Description: The island of St Marteen/St Martin is the smallest land in the world divided between two different nations.
The dual identity of the island (Dutch and French) causes misunderstandings about the correct spelling of the name. The Dutch part belongs to the Netherlands Antilles. It is called Sint Maarten and it is a beautiful place with white sand beaches and a lot of nightlife. The capital of the Dutch side is Philipsburg, a duty-free port with active shopping streets, cafes and hotels.
The French side is called St Martin and it is more relaxed and classy. The white beaches are great and most of them are private.
